I have been playing clarinet and piano since I was about 7 years old. Originally hailing from Mount Isa, Queensland I moved to Melbourne to complete Year 12 at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School where I studied clarinet with Kate Stockwin and piano with Anne Lewitzka.
Following high school, I went back to Queensland to complete my Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the Queensland Conservatorium. Whilst there I did an internship with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, played principal clarinet in the Queensland Conservatorium Orchestra under the direction of Isaiah Jackson and Richard Mills. I performed in masterclasses with Harry Spaarnay, Henri Bok, Andrew Simon amongst others and had the wonderful tutelage of Floyd Williams and Paul Dean.
After completing my undergraduate degree I again moved back to Melbourne to study for a Master of Music Performance degree and also taught clarinet and saxophone at the Murray Conservatorium and Scots College, Albury. I went on to join the Australian Air Force Band, where I played principal clarinet in the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band and Clarinet Quartet and re-ignited my interest in jazz, playing clarinet and bass clarinet with the Air Force Jazz Ensemble and alto saxophone with the Air Force Big Band. I went on to complete my Master of Music Performance degree at the Victorian College of the Arts where I was able to study with Robert Schubert, Barry Bignell and Tony Gould.
I have recently completed a Master of Teaching (Primary) degree and teach from my home studio and in local schools.
